What is the Aberdeen Musicfest?

This 2-day music festival features local and regional bands performing on two outdoor stages in Downtown Aberdeen. Now in its 9th year, the Aberdeen Musicfest has solidified its status as the region’s leading outdoor music festival, drawing over 8,000 music fans by highlighting veteran bands and emerging artists.

What happened to the name the Pig Out?

The Great Aberdeen Pig Out began as an event that focused on good food, eating and barbeque competitions, and provided entertainment from local and regional bands. Over time, the event has evolved into a music festival. We have changed the name to associate it less with food and more with music.

Who organizes the Aberdeen Musicfest?

The Aberdeen Musicfest is hosted by the Aberdeen Downtown Association, a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization, as a way to create awareness of all that Downtown Aberdeen has to offer. You can learn more about the Aberdeen Downtown Association at their website www.aberdeendowntown.org.

When and where is the Aberdeen Musicfest?

The Aberdeen Musicfest takes place every second weekend of July. The 2011 dates are July 8th and 9th. The event runs from 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM on Friday and 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM on Saturday. The event is located in Central park at the corner of Kline St and 2nd Ave.

Is there an admission fee?

Yes. A one-day pass is $10 and a two-day pass is $15. Children 12 and under get in free.

What type of music is featured at the Aberdeen Musicfest?

The Aberdeen Musicfest is a rock festival but also features a wide variety of music including alternative, jazz, blues, soul and funk among others.

Can I bring a cooler with outside food or outside beverages to the Aberdeen Musicfest?

No. Outside food, beverages, and coolers are prohibited and will be confiscated if caught trying to bring into the event.

Is there any parking?

There are several free public parking lots and side streets in the area surrounding the festival grounds available for parking.

Can I camp at the Aberdeen Musicfest?

No. Overnight camping is not available in the Downtown Area of Aberdeen. Camping information is available on the Aberdeen Convention & Visitors Bureau website at www.aberdeencvb.org.

Can I bring an umbrella?

Yes.  We want people to be comfortable and stay all day. Chairs and blankets to sit on are also encouraged. There will also be shade tents available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Can I bring my pet to the Aberdeen Musicfest?

No. Aberdeen Musicfest is fun for people, but a hot and miserable place for pets. Please keep your pet at home in a nice cool place with plenty of water.

Can I bring my RV?

No. There is limited parking in the festival area and RV’s are not allowed.

Is there food at the Aberdeen Musicfest?

Yes! The festival hosts a variety of different fair food vendors for your dining pleasure.

Are ATM’s available nearby?

Yes, There are ATM’s at the following locations: Dacotah Bank on Main Street, US Bank on 1st Street, or Wells Fargo on 2nd Street.

What kind of seating is available at the Aberdeen Musicfest?

The Aberdeen Musicfest is hosted on Main Street  in Downtown Aberdeen. We do bring in a limited number of benches and picnic tables, but we encourage you to bring your own lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.

What should I bring to the Aberdeen Musicfest?

A lawn chair or blanket; cash or your ATM Card; a hat, sunblock, sunglasses, your kids, and a great attitude!

What should I leave at home?

Tents, coolers or outside food and beverages, pets (service animals accepted), radios and portable TV’s.

Can I volunteer for the Aberdeen Musicfest?
